DEI is claptrap! At one point in our history (until JFK corrected the McKerron Walter Act, southern Europeans were considered non-white (Italians, Greeks, Portuguese, Spaniards) but the utter discrimination was more subtle. Example: I was offered a great job with TWA (no longer around) in the downtown ticket office in 1962 at $500 month. Back then that was HUGE. The condition was to have my last name more “Americanized.” I obviously declined & told them why. Discrimination wears many faces & I truly believe DEI is a type of condescension. Gosh—we all go going to be grateful to the gods of opportunity?! Nope! This another form of discrimination. It really says this: You’re not clever, smart or educated enough to do this so the conditions (requirements) will be reduced for your dumb self. In some ways, this is why many Greeks & Italians went into the restaurant business or started their own businesses (barbering, boxing coaches, nightclubs, delis, etc). Like the Jews who started their own country clubs because clubs were “restricted,” the Italians also did so. In my hometown, it was Olympia.
I took the challenge and realized at a very early age that to succeed I had to work harder than some others, do more, really prove myself. DEI should disappear from the U S. If it were at all necessary then they’d need it desperately in Southern Europe, Africa, Caribbean. Success & achievement are personal goals NOT racial or to be begged for.

No. Why is everyone afraid to say it?
